Finances are always a much needed part of running any non-profit organization. I use about an average of 80 to 125 stamps every month that also takes 80 to 125 envelopes for that same period of time. Each of the letters I mail out are usually 2 pages, and the newsletters are two pages back and front in color and all of the letters have a color letterhead now. So I go through a ream of paper in a month. I have an HP Color Jet 2840 printer/copier which takes four cartridges and an imaging drum. Depending upon how many color pages I copy, these cartridges usually do not last an entire year. It cost $587 for the entire set of these refills. I have an all/in/one HP color Photosmart C5180 which has a black cartridge and four color cartridges which cost around $21 each. These are all needs for this ministry, and things that donations provide for us
As you all know the fuel prices are rising daily and even though the ministry car is diesel and we get 46 or 50 MPG diesel fuel is higher than it have even been. The chaplain travels an average of 6728.5 miles a year; which is round 561 miles a month which cost $611.54 for a year or $50 a month. These are needs for this ministry as well.
We do have three ladies presently doing the editing for the ministry, which is enough for the present time. We have one Spanish speaking man who is going to try to translate from English to Spanish a Bible studies for the two prisons I teach at. It would be great for have someone with time to volunteer to translate other materials into Spanish such as items on the Web site. We could use someone who had experience in fund raising, to work on businesses in our area so the ministry could support an ongoing Restoration House Program. This is one of our earnest prayers, and has been a desire of this ministry for 25 years. This program could, if successful, be self supporting in a matter of two years.
The greatest need of this ministry is prayer for the work we do in and out of the prisons. We need churches to show an interest in the families of the inmates we are working with and be willing to make an effort to help these families in many way. It is not just spiritual needs these families need, there are physical need and the church may need to be willing to sacrifice some time to actually take the spouses to and from an appointment or to the store. A church will need to be careful not to allow the family to become too dependent, but being there in Christian love is why we offer these out reaches to church and we are willing to walk them through the steps of working with inmates and their families so the church is as blessed as the family.
